Guerlain Shalimar Eau de Parfum, created in 1925 by Jacques Guerlain. It is a flagship product for Guerlain and has been in production continuously since its release. Shalimar is described as an oriental fragrance with top notes of citrus and bergamot, a heart of rose, jasmine, and iris, and a base of woody and balsamic notes, tonka bean. The bottle design, featuring curves inspired by the Shalimar gardens and a fan-shaped stopper, won first prize at the Paris Decorative Arts Exhibition in 1925.
Four centuries ago, in India, Emperor Shah Jahan fell hopelessly in love with Princess Mumtaz Mahal. He had the enchanting Gardens of Shalimar built for her and dedicated the Taj Mahal to her as well, one of the seven new wonders of the world. This incredible tale sparked the imagination of Jacques Guerlain, who created Shalimar, the first oriental fragrance in history, in 1925.
Shalimar is the first oriental perfume in history.
The Eau de Toilette wake is characterized by bergamot, iris and vanilla notes. It leaves an unforgettable memory and embodies skin-caressing sensuality with a hint of the forbidden.
Inspired by the passionate love story between an emperor and an Indian princess, Shalimar, which means "temple of love" in Sanskrit, symbolizes the promise of eternal love forevermore. It is a fragrance of desire.
